Karis (ISZ): So first of all, thank you so much for your time. How, and what you guys are doing lately?

Plasmoptysis: You’re very welcome. Lately, we are very busy with our jobs, college activities and, of course, to prepare material for our new single and new album.

Karis (ISZ): Do you mind to tell us you what kind of album are you preparing? Whether it’s a demo, an EP or even a full-length album?

Plasmoptysis: First of all we are going to record a single track, and then followed to record a full-length album. But it will not be released in the near future.

Karis (ISZ): Will there be a change in your style, influence and sounding for further material?

Plasmoptysis: There may be a decrease in tempo, the basic tone, and the style of the music itself. There is likely to be very much different from the previous efforts.

Karis (ISZ): What is making you wanting to do changes in your musical style?

Plasmoptysis: Perhaps, ranging from musical tastes of each member of the band. We just want to be ourselves.

Karis (ISZ): I would like to know, how your band has been formed and who had started it all. Where did you get the inspiration?

Plasmoptysis: Initially, Dedy and Saenk went at the same School and had the same taste in music, after a while, Dedy has decided to create a band. So Saenk, and Sandro invited other friends to joint the band. As time passed, we repeatedly replaced members, and finally in 2005 we formed a band called Mannequin.

Karis (ISZ): Could you mention your band line-up at that time?

Plasmoptysis: Dedy, Saenk, Sandro, Arga and Dawan. We were playing death metal and black metal. And we finally decided to change our name to Plasmoptysis with the same line-up. We are highly influenced by hour of Penance, Disavowed, Sleep Terror, Necrophagist and Mastodon. We are fans of Radiohead as well. All that gave us inspiration for making our music. All kinds of music made by those bands have been incorporated into our debut album until our EP titled “Dawn the Plague”.

Karis (ISZ): Does your band name have a special meaning? And where it came from?

Plasmoptysis: Not really, we just want to make it sound cool hehe!

Karis (ISZ): I’ve heard that the album entitled “Breeds of the Malevolence” had been called the best brutal death metal album in 2010. Do you wish to repeat that success?

Plasmoptysis: In fact, I do not know about it. I just know that hahaha yes, of course we want to repeat it, but our goal now is to the delivery of the message to our next album.

Karis (ISZ): For the next album, are you keep working with Brutal Infection Records, or maybe do you have plans to collaborate with other labels?

Plasmoptysis: Yes, maybe, but for now we haven’t thought about it.

Karis (ISZ): What is the theme of the lyrics that you had used in your first album, EP, and in your new album?

Plasmoptysis: About life and our personal themes.

Karis (ISZ): What bands do you think are very influential for your music?

Plasmoptysis: Amm, we can’t tell specifically which ones.

Karis (ISZ): Ok! Now I want to know about your views on the metal scene in this country?

Plasmoptysis: We think it’s growing fast, but still not evenly distributed, and there is still some discrimination in a certain kind of music.

Karis (ISZ): How about the city where you are living now? (Bandung) How is the metal scene there?

Plasmoptysis: Decreased slightly compared to the previous year, unfortunately.

Karis (ISZ): Now, what are the things that cannot be separated to inspire you musically?

Plasmoptysis: The togetherness of each member of the band.

Karis (ISZ): In your opinion, what has been the best death metal album released in 2014?

Plasmoptysis: Carcass – Surgical Remission EP

Karis (ISZ): In addition to preparing new material, tell us about your activities?

Plasmoptysis: Just working and college routines hehe.

Karis (ISZ): Where your fans could buy your stuff and CD’s?

Plasmoptysis: In several distributors like our own label or you can contact us directly through text/phone call 081220023878.

Karis (ISZ): Now what’s your opinions about fans that refuse to buy CD’s and prefer to download music illegally?

Plasmoptysis: It’s something normal these days. But I don’t really have problem with it.

Karis (ISZ): What’s your band’s main target in the future?

Plasmoptysis: Musical maturity.

Karis (ISZ): Ok, thank you very much for your time! Keep doing a lot of success! Last statements?

Plasmoptysis: You’re very welcome! Thanks for the interview, good luck for the Indonesian Sickness zine! Through this media, you keep the scene alive, especially in this country. Keep enjoying music with your heart.
