Karis (ISZ): Ok, first of all I would like to thank you so much for your time! To be honest this is the first time that I am doing an interview for a webzine. So, where did the idea to create this band come from? And when you guys have started the band?

Willy (Kerangkenk): Early before the formation of this Band was in 1993. Onani changes happened when Willy entered fill Guitar position in 1994, on the 12th of July 1994. The Kerangkenk name came from the band’s members. We have created the name together.

Karis (ISZ): Could you tell me the complete line-up back in that time?

Willy (Kerangkenk) :
Ijal : Guitar, and vocals
Willy : Guitar
Firman : Bass
Dan Andy : Drum

Karis (ISZ): From what I’ve heard, before the album entitled “Onslaught of Psychopath” was released, you guys also have released one EP album. Tell me how the album could be missing? And what’s the title of the album?

Willy (Kerangkenk): Our EP was been released in cassette format with only about 50 copies and contains 4 songs, but while we still have 5 copies of the tape, a lot of our friends asked for the tape, and now we do not have the cassettes anymore. They came from the Borneo, Sulawesi and Sumatra. The only person who knows the EP titled is Ijal who played as guitar back in that time. Our basecamp located in Permai Tanjung Priok, East Jakarta. But I still remember 2 Chords songs on the EP and combined them for the chorus, setting the tone of two songs on the EP and putting them together. Now the song is known as “VENOMOUS SUICIDE VICTIM”

Karis (ISZ): I think the artwork for the album “Onslaught of Psychopath” is pretty good, in terms of detail and
concept as well. Who did the artwork?

Willy (Kerangkenk): We had the contribution of our friend from Bandung “Gustav Insuffer” but the artwork concept ideas came from me (willy, guitar, and vocals).

Karis (ISZ): Let’s talk about the theme of the lyrics for this album “Onslaught of Psychopath”, which lyrical theme are you using for this album? And who is working on it?

Willy (Kerangkenk): Hatred of Oppression, human massacre and all sorts of Fraud Performed partly coordinated human land and greed leader. We see all of it, I saw all of it and I’m sure you can see it as well.
We wanted to be rebelling, we have protested through the lyrics of this album. Through our music and this metal scene, we hope and pray that one day it will create an everlasting peace in the whole world. The human beings suffering indelible with a smile and hope in their face in everywhere in the land and the sea, those are lyrics made by myself.

Karis (ISZ): What are the bands that had influenced you musically the most?

Willy (Kerangkenk): Suffocation, in terms of harmony and beauty of rhythm. And that really fit for us to play death metal.

Karis (ISZ): How did the public feel after the releasing of this album?

Willy (Kerangkenk): So far the public answered about this album is very good! The fact they are keeping buying our CD is the best form of support to us, given within a period of 20 years of existence in this scene. The album “Onslaught of Psychopath” is a way to thanks a lot once for metalheads at home and abroad that are significantly providing support and encouragement to us to continuing to work in the Indonesian metal scene.

Karis (ISZ): Not only in Indonesia, some of my Facebook friends from Canada, Austria and United States think the album is pretty good! What do you think about the fans out there and there is any plan for making your band better known in international metal scene?

Willy (Kerangkenk): It is our purpose! Letting people outside Indonesia to know our music is an honor for us. Since 2008 until 2014 we have participated in a lot compilation and interviews about our song through the radio, TV and media zine, and also links here and there and we hope we can keep grow and become well known amongst the local or international scene. And just to be honest we really need those helps.

Karis (ISZ): Whether after this latest album, there are any plans to make new material for next year? Or will you be doing only routines LIVE?

Willy (Kerangkenk): There will be a new album with a different concept and characteristics. If we compare to “Onslaught of Psychopath”, this album will sound different. We have players who are very consistent to develop a musical character to the material on the new album, considering that I (the guitarist) am getting older. Hopefully our work could still be accepted with a good response. About the live show, it is still keep going as our responsibility to underground scene and keep having good relationships with our friends in the scene.

Karis (ISZ): For the next album, are you going to continue your work with Rantai Productions, or may you be also working with international label? Any plans for it?

Willy (Kerangkenk): For the 2nd album, we still didn’t think about the label, our mission now is making new songs with a strong concept until our next album is ready for distribution. It requires persistence and discipline in every single second for making each song. As far in our existence in metal scene, we do not want to disappoint our friends and fans, we really want to be responsible in our live performance. We will keep it up until after the 2nd album release. Please pray and blessing us! We hope to have support as usual in the good health.

Karis (ISZ) : Okay, last question! Are you satisfied so far about your cooperation with the Rantai Production?

Willy (Kerangkenk): We worked consciously with Rantai Production, we will always support each steps taken by the label, for the goodness to enlarge this band at the time the contract still keep going. Cooperation is maintained over responsibility between the label and the band. The band contract period with Rantai Production ended after releasing of the second album. Possibilities for cooperation with other labels are open after we finished the contract period with Rantai Production, because we truly need a label that really want to raise the band and introduce our work in world metal scene. That’s about it, my friend.

Karis (ISZ): Ok. Thank you very much indeed for your time! Hopefully the band can keep growing and I hope too you will be known not only in Indonesia but also in international metal scene. Once again thank you for your time! Greetings.

Willy (Kerangkenk) : Thank you for your trust in us. We will always have time for the mediazine if there is any knowledge required.
