Demi : Please take us through the band's history?
Femur : The history is very simple. FEMUR formed in Samarinda in July 2009, through a community called SAMARINDA DEATH METAL which every saturday, the community gathered in a place called Koperasi Telkom. Rizkan, Arie dan Gerhard initiated to create a death metal band, then Dede came and join as drummer, also Didi join as vocalsit. However, while we make the album entitled "Sketching The Holy Blood" Dede has resign from the band, and replaced by Roffi.
Demi : After "Sketching the Holy Blood", are you guys planning to create a new album?
Femur : That's for sure, even we has started to record them. Certainly, we are more developed our musical maturity this time.
Demi : Where did the band's name come from?
Femur : The band's name is taken from the name of the largest bone in the composition of the human anatomy called FEMUR.
Demi : Why did you choose to play death metal?
Femur : Because for us, this genre can tell everything of the different facets. ranging from themes, lyrics, and sound,
this genre is full of challenges, the aura of cruelty, and firmness in music into real
action.
Demi : What kind of lyrical theme do you use?
Femur : About lifes, real hate, blood, and death. Song theme we picked up the story that might actually happen often. For example, a story about human life: starting from the man who was created
by God in the form of blood of innocents,
in the womb, being children, being a
teenager until they would back to its creator, God.
Demi : What's your biggest influence?
Femur : SODOM, HOUR OF PENANCE, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Necropagist, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, JOB FOR A COWBOY, SAFOCATION, CANIBAL CROPSE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEAD SQUAD & SIKSA KUBUR. But we do not deny, that in the album
"Sketching the Holy Blood", our music is also influenced by the Swedish style of melodic death metal. So, our music can be categorized also as Melodic Death Metal at some points.
Demi : Have you guys been doing a live perform outside the Samarinda?
Femur : In the meantime, we still do a couple live performance in the city which still belongs to the province of East Borneo such as : Balikpapan, Bontang, Tenggarong (Kutai Kartanegara). Penajam Paser Utara etc.
Demi : How is the metalscene in Samarinda?
Femur : Quite developed, solid, and compact.
Demi : How comparison metalscene in
Samarinda city compared to other cities
in Kalimantan?
Femur : We can not compare, because each metalscene in every town has it's own advantages and disadvantages. metalscene in Samarinda began
increasingly and appreciated by varied kind of people, also because they are built in a long process. automatically, the metalscene Samarinda began to evolve through those process.
Demi : What's your favorite album of 2014 and 2015?
Femur : Cannibal Corpse - A Skeletal Domain
Death Vomit - Forging Legacy
Fleshgod Apocalypse - Labyrinth
Demi : And, what's your current favorite song?
Femur : Wow so many, I may not mention one by one...but ill mention some of my favorite. These days, we are listening a lot to Malevolent Creation "Warkult", Saffocation "Pierced from within", Cannibal Corpse "A Skeletal Domain", and from Indonesia, we listening a lot to Death Vomit - Forging a Legacy.
Demi : Forging a Legacy is definitely my favorite death metal album of 2014!
Demi : What's the most important thing? Releasing more merch or record more songs?
Femur : Actually, both are important for the progress of a band financial issues. But record a song and creating album is way more fun. That's how we enjoy this life!
Demi : How do you feel about the Indonesian metal scene latelt?
Femur : wow...it's just won't stop growing up. spread evenly, and very creative.
Demi : What's your hope for the Indonesian metal scene?
Femur : Keep solid.
