WP: Hi ISZ team, We are currently preparing for the album release of Brutal Death Metal band from Kediri called "Depraved Murder" which is possible if there are no obstacles, will soon be available in april, and some other Brutal Death bands in this year.
Demi : Can you take us through this label formation history?
WP: The initial formation of this label around mid-2012 began with the name "Waar Distribution", then over time, we decided to try releasing a physical music, and finally we change the name to Waar Productions. And finally stand out until today.
Demi : Why is named "WAAR"? Is that the name has a special meaning?
WP: The phrase "WAAR" actually has no special meaning, just a designation for identification labels only.
Demi : So far, from the beginning until now, how many total albums that have been released?
WP: From 2012 until today, about 7 release that has been released into the physical format through this label.
Demi : Do you have special requirements and specification if there is a band that wants to join?
WP: So far, there are no specifications and special requirements. communication between the bands and the label are the main priority, and never promised too high if you were not able to make it happen.
Demi : What kind of musical genre that can join this label?
WP: Since I was a connoisseur of underground music, all underground genres are welcome, because I can not lie to my taste in enjoying music. What I think is nice to be heard, seen, and felt, well let's hope there is a match between the bands and the label to reach an agreement to form a physical work.
Demi : Is there ever a band that you reject because it does not qualify your specification?
WP: So far, there has never been a band that I rejected, just maybe the band took some time to fix themselves, in terms of musicality, and behavior.
Demi : How do you feel about the local metalscene lately?
WP: woow, currently, the local metalscene has reach it's glory. evidenced by the many indie labels and merchandise distributors that exist in almost every town. So it is not difficult to find a knowledge, especially knowledge about underground music.
Demi : What do you think about "ILLEGAL DOWNLOAD" in this modern era. Do you yourself feel aggrieved about it?
WP: In fact, the actions of Illegal Downloading obviously very detrimental. not a few large record labels companies in Indonesia is closed because of this kind of problem. All so much easier and more practical to be able to enjoy music in a free manner. Hopefully we can be a part of those who are able to appreciate the work of a band / musician by buying their physical release.
Demi : Does "Waar Production" worked with labels from other countries for international distributions?
WP: Yes we does. We cooperate well with some labels outside the Indonesia for distributions, because this thing is quite important. We introduce what we have released to them, and they also do the same.
Demi : The numerous of new independent labels that start popping up lately, do you feel rivaled?
WP: Nothing to worry about it, with many new independent labels that start popping up in recent years, it is more interesting to be able to give birth to new bands. However, in a positive way Instead of the way "stabbed in the back"
Demi : What's your favorite 2014 and 2015 releases?
WP: Too much to be mentioned, but maybe my favorite 2014 releases are from MEPHISTOPHELES (ID), INTERNAL AMPUTATION, HELLRAIZER, DIRTY INFAMOUS (Reissue). And this year there's a band called DEPRAVED MURDER. Hahaha
Demi : And what's your favorite musical genre?
WP: I love all music genres, but lately I listening a lot to : Jazz, BDM, Grindcore, Pagan/Folk Metal.
Demi : In addition being a label owner, do you have another job?
WP: Yes, in addition to the focus becoming an online seller, I also have a job as husband and father.
Demi : What's your hope for the Indonesian metalscene?
WP: My hope is to Indonesian Metalscene is, keep working, do not ever be afraid to try new things, and be yourself without having to be someone else, because along with the magnitude of the skills you have, there will be a handful of people who try to drop you and allied to stab you from behind. Like a dog without a bone.
